Ridgway State Park is located just north of Ridgway and 15 miles north of Ouray, Colorado. This extremely popular state park has excellent camping facilities, views, picnic, playground areas, boating, swimming beach, fishing, hiking and biking trails.

Below you can find information on park hours, activities, campgrounds, fishing and entrance fees. Pets are allowed but must be leashed at all times.

Ridgway State Park Visitor Center

The Ridgway State Park Visitor Center is open daily.
  • 8:00 A.M. to 4:30 P.M.

Ridgway State Park Activities

Although the park is a popular fishing spot and park also has a number of hiking and biking trails. There is a paved trail that goes from the park to the town of Ridgway. The park has over 10 miles of trails varying from dirt to paved.
  • Bikers are allowed on all trails except the Dallas Creek Trail
  • Birding is also popular as the park is home to Sandhill Cranes, Great Blue Herons and a number of eagles and falcons.

In the reservoir any bait and lure is allowed and all fish and be kept up to the legal limit. Spirt fish include Rainbow trout, Brown trout, Kokanee salmon and Yellow perch.

There is a popular 1 mile fly fishing section (catch & release) in the Uncompahgre River below the dam. Brown, Rainbow and Cutthroat trout abound!

Ridgway State Park Campgrounds

The park offers year-round camping with 258 campsites for trailers, campers and rv's. There are 25 walk-in tent sites and yurt's are also available. The campgrounds are often full mid-May to mid-September, reservations can be made through www.reserveamerica.com. Each of the three campgrounds offers the following amenities:
  • Restrooms, coin-operated showers, laundromat and a coin machine
  • Playground

Dakota Terraces Campground (download 155k pdf campground map)
Best mountain views are in this campground and is near the reservoir and swimming beach. RV sites have electrical hookups and shared water and is the only section in the park that is open year-round for RV's. This campground also has 3 yurts.

Elk Ridge Campground (download 155k pdf campground map)
This is the most popular campground in the park nestled on top of the mesa in Pinyon pine and Juniper trees. RV sites have electrical hookups and shared water. This campground has 10 walk-in tent sites.

Pa-Co-Chu-Puk Campground (download pdf campground map)
Located on the north side of the park near the Uncompahgre river. RV sites have electric, water and sewage. This campground has 15 walk-in tent sites located on the otherside of the river.

Entrance Fee:
  • Daily Park Pass: $5
  • Annual Park Pass: $55

Campground Fees:

  • RV with electric & shared water - $18 per night
  • RV with full hookup - $22 per night
  • Tent sites - $14 per night
  • Yurts - $60 per night
